by Mander on 4th March 2009 5:09 AM The best part of this software is that you can rename files using a list that you have created in a text file. I had a lot of tables and graphs that I had called various random things (like "ihatethistable.xls") and was able to rename them all to more sensible things in minutes.

It runs in Linux with Wine, too.

From their webpage:

"Bulk Rename Utility is a free file renaming software for Windows. Bulk Rename Utility allows you to easily rename files and entire folders based upon extremely...

You can organize your thoughts visually, then click on a button and see a standard outline. I also find outlining in this software really easy. You can download a free trial to see if it works for you.

It lets you prioritize and assign the amount of effort required to accomplish a given task (feed cats: easy; read boring article: hard). It also gives you a pie chart that shows you how you're doing in comparison to how you'd like to be doing, in terms of balancing dissertating and family and other obligations/wants.

by GeoGal on 23rd June 2002 1:00 PM With Outliner, some of us keep multiple to-do lists in it ÷ a to-do list for each project we're on, plus a separate daily to-do list. Others use Outliner to track everything they eat, day-by-day, as a way to watch their health. Use it for a grocery list, use it to track what's in your bar (and check items as you run out), use it whenever you find yourself obsessing about something that you could just as easily write down and stop worrying about.
